This is an example of a codicil to a will. If you want to make a change to a will without having to rewrite the whole thing, you use a "codicil' (pronounced kah-duh-suhl). Generally, it's better to just rewrite the will, but under certain circumstances people may only want to make a small change. In order to make a modification to a will, you should never write on it or scratch something out because these types of actions can invalidate the entire thing. Instead, you need to use a codicil. The form provided here is only intended to be used for educational purposes. To actually carry out this type of transaction, you should either consult with an attorney or buy the form that comes with instructions from Nolo Press.
