Question:
My husband of 29 years was convicted of felony Drug Trafficking back in 1988 about a year after we were married. He is Cuban and came to this country in 1980 with the Mariel Boatlift. He was 24 at the time of his conviction. He served roughly 6 years and 9 months and went through a deportation hearing and has always had his pending deportation papers. He was then released here in the US. With the laws that are changing with Cuba. Is this something we need be concerned with? We have 3 daughters. One is Active duty in the US Army another is Active duty in the US Air Force and the 3rd is a teacher. We have 4 grandchildren. I myself is a US born Citizen. We have our home and he has a great carrier here and has never been in trouble with the law again. He's truly a model citizen. Are there options for us. Is there anything we should be doing while waiting?

I think that the best thing you can do to get these questions answered is to actually go to see a local immigration lawyer to have a full discussion. I do not know enough about immigration law to assist you, but at least I can point you in the right direction.
